The politics of reflexivity: Subjectivities, activism, environmental conflict and Gestalt Therapy in southern Chiapas

We explore the role of Gestalt therapy in community organizing and environmental conflict in southern Chiapas, Mexico. Drawing on workshops with Indigenous and peasant communities, we examine how therapeutic practices can foster individual and collective reflexivity, strengthen political participation, and create spaces for emotional expression. The article argues that healing processes can only contribute to social transformation when they explicitly engage with the structural relations of power and dispossession.
